A positive pressure protective suit is a specialized form of personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to protect both the body and the respiratory system from hazardous substances. These suits are engineered as fully enclosed positive pressure systems and are supplied with breathable air via a powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) or a compressed air system with a regulating valve. The continuous positive pressure inside the suit prevents contaminated ambient air from entering the system, while exhaled air is safely discharged through dedicated exhaust valves. Positive pressure protective suits are primarily used in high-risk environments, including the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, laboratories, fire and rescue services, civil protection, and applications involving biological or radioactive hazardous materials.
The new ChemMax and MicroMax protective suit range from e-breathe combines three different material variants to provide the optimum solution for a wide variety of applications and operational environments.
These one-piece positive pressure protective suits provide reliable protection against gases, vapours, liquid chemicals, radioactive contamination, as well as solid and liquid aerosols, airborne particles, and biological infectious agents. The suits are designed for use with an approved powered air-purifying respirator (e-breathe e-Flow with EN 148-1 standard threaded connection), which continuously supplies the suit with breathable air while maintaining a constant positive pressure.
1) Panoramic Visor
The large panoramic visor provides a clear, distortion-free field of vision with enhanced downward visibility. This ensures excellent situational awareness at all times. A continuous airflow inside the hood prevents the visor from fogging. Two visor options are available:
1.1 Flexible film visor
1.2 Rigid panoramic visor with additional overhead visor
2) Optimized Suit Design
The generously sized hood provides ample space for safety helmets or communication systems. A spacious crotch design ensures unrestricted freedom of movement and outstanding wearing comfort.
3) Neck Seal
The adjustable, air-permeable neck seal ensures uniform air circulation throughout the hood. Excess air is directed into the body section of the suit, providing effective cooling and a comfortable internal climate. Opening the neck seal also makes removing the suit significantly easier.
4) Emergency Air Supply / Breathing Air Hose
The flexible breathing air hose can be positioned either above the hood or directly in front of the wearer’s mouth. An optional interchangeable mouthpiece can be fitted to the breathing air hose for emergency situations.
5) Emergency Exit
The integrated emergency exit allows the suit to be removed quickly and easily in critical situations, providing maximum safety in the event of sudden air supply failure or other emergencies.
6) Entry / Front Zipper
The horizontal front zipper with a double self-adhesive protective flap ensures easy donning and doffing while providing reliable protection. The suit can be removed by the wearer without assistance (although this is not recommended). For rapid removal, the rear section of the suit can also be cut open.
The CHEMMAX 3 Pro is a high-performance CBRN protective suit designed for use in hazardous and demanding environments. The suit is available in two configurations: an Inside version with an internal powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) and an Outside version with an external air supply. This allows the suit to be optimally adapted to the specific application, risk assessment, and operational environment.
The ChemMax 3 series is manufactured from a multi-layer high-barrier laminate, providing reliable protection against a broad range of toxic industrial chemicals, dual-use chemicals, chemical warfare agents, hazardous chemical splashes and aerosols, as well as infectious agents and hazardous particulate contaminants.
The CHEMMAX 3 Pro is manufactured in high-visibility orange. Its distinctive color ensures that the wearer remains highly visible even in poor lighting conditions, smoke, dust, or complex operational environments. This provides a significant safety advantage during hazardous operations, decontamination procedures, and emergency response situations.
As standard, the suit is equipped with a rigid panoramic visor and an additional overhead visor. The extra viewing panel in the upper head area improves light transmission inside the suit and significantly enhances visibility when working in a bent-over position, crawling, or performing tasks with restricted mobility.
Two Configurations for Different Operational Requirements: Internal or External Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR)
Available in both Inside and Outside configurations, the CHEMMAX 3 Pro provides a flexible solution for a wide range of CBRN and hazardous material applications. The Inside version offers the advantage of a protected internal air supply and reduced external contamination, while the Outside version provides excellent accessibility, simplified inspection, and maximum operational flexibility.
The coextrusion manufacturing process creates a smooth, flexible surface that allows liquids to run off quickly and safely, facilitating decontamination.
The CHEMMAX 1 is manufactured from a single-layer HDPE barrier film laminate that is lightweight and flexible while providing effective protection against most industrial acids and alkalis, a wide range of less hazardous chemicals, as well as blood-borne pathogens, viruses, and other infectious agents.
The MICROMAX NS is manufactured from a high-quality 63 g/m² microporous PE film laminate. The material combines excellent resistance to liquids and particles with high water vapour permeability, helping to maintain wearer comfort while providing an ideal balance of protection and breathability.
The suit is lightweight, soft, and flexible, offering effective protection against light splashes of hazardous liquids, infectious agents, harmful particulates, and limited exposure to hazardous vapours.
